The draw for January’s African Cup of Nations has been made, with several of the big nations in the continent set to go toe-to toe. Group A consists of the hosts Angola, who have been given Mali, Algeria, and minnows Malawi to try and halt their progress on home turf. Group B is likely to be considered a ‘group of death’, with three teams from the 2006 World Cup Finals (Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Togo) paired with dark horses Burkina Faso.
Egypt and Nigeria might have an easier ride in Group C, with Benin and Mozambique having little international pedigree in comparision. in Group D sees a rematch between World Cup Qualifying rivials Cameroon and Gabon, with Tunisia and Zambia completing another fairly-matched set.
You can be sure to expect plenty of excitement, drama, and goals in Angola in a month and a half…
