STP 0-5 CGO

Sao Tome
11 November 2011 could possibly become known as a historic day for Sao Tome and Principe, as while their national team were defeated 5-0 at home to Congo, the nation will be pleased to at least have a match in recent memory, with the side in the international wilderness since November 2003.
Despite the defeat, which was caused with Congolese goals from Matt Moussilou (1′), Ladislas Douniama (5′), Francis Malonga (27′), Prince Oniangue (54′), and Harris Tchilimbou (69′), Sao Tome and Principe can now be admitted back into the FIFA World Rankings in its next edition, as a requirement for being included is that the national team must have played a match in the previous four-year period.
The second leg of this 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying (CAF First Round) tie is being played today, but can the island nation form an unlikely turnaround, or will their international return remain on a lower profile? Regardless of the result, will Sao Tome and Principe be able to continue to ease their way back into the international footballing community after several years nearer to the sidelines?
