ASTON VILLA 6-4 BLACKBURN (7-4 agg.)

Aston Villa made it to the final of the League Cup last Wednesday after a brilliant match against Blackburn Rovers in their semi-final second leg. After a 1-0 win for Villa at Ewood Park in the first game, Blackburn stormed the tie back in their favour, going 2-0 up via Nicola Kalinic (10′, 26′). By half-time, though, the Birmingham-based side had levelled the match through Warnock (30′), and Milner (40′ (pen)).
In the second half, Villa effectively sealed their passage to Wembley, with an own goal from N’Zonzi (53′), and goals from Agbonlahor (58′) and Heskey (62′) bringing a comfortable lead despite Olsson (63′) and Emerton (84′) bringing it down to 2-goal aggregate lead, before Ashley Young had the last laugh (90+3′), sparking a fanatical pitch invasion upon the final whistle from the Villa fans.
They will now meet either Manchester United or Manchester City in the final on the 28th February, with City the favourites after a 2-1 victory last Tuesday. Carlos Tevez silenced his former team-mates with both of City’s goals after Ryan Giggs had given United an early lead.
