The Football Association have responded to the credit crunch by reducing ticket prices for England internationals.
August’s friendly match with the Czech Republic was seen by under 70,000 people, meaning there were still 20,000 and manager Fabio Capello was known to have then been critical of the lack of Wembley atmosphere.
The FA will be reducing ticket prices by up to 25% for the remaining home games in the 2008/2009 season.
These price reductions will apply to all of England’s remaining home matches, with a friendly with Slovakia on the 28th March being the next fixture, and 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine (April 1st) and Andorra (June 10th) still to come at Wembley this side of July. FA chief operating officer Alex Horne states: “We want to make watching the national team as affordable as possible during this difficult period”.
The revised prices now start at around £30 for adults and £15 for children.
