Financially-troubled Portsmouth will be have a Wembley date in the FA Cup for the first time since winning the competition in 2008 against Cardiff City. A 2-0 quarter-final win over Birmingham City in front of a feverent Fratton Park crowd will go down as one of the highlights of a fairly miserable season for the south coast team, although more cup glory could add to the silver lining on their administration cloud. French striker Frederic Piquionne scored both goals in the match (67′, 70′).
In the semi-finals, Portsmouth will play the winners of a replay between Tottenham and Fulham who played out a 0-0 draw. Chelsea (who beat Stoke 2-0) will take on Aston Villa (who overcame a 2-0 defecit to see off Reading 4-2) in the other semi.
