MANCHESTER CITY 5-1 SCUNTHORPE

Manchester City put five goals past Scunthorpe as they seek to end their lengthy quest for major silverware. Roque Santa Cruz, one of the Citizen’s major summer signings, scored his first goal for the club during the rout over the Championship side.
Stephen Ireland put a strong City team in front (3′), before Jonathan Forte grabbed a shock equaliser for the Iron (26′). Normal service was resumed somewhat for the rest of the game, though, as goals from Santa Cruz (38′), Lescott (56′), Tevez (71′), and Johnson (77′) made for a resounding 5-1 victory.
The result means that Manchester City are in the quarter-finals, and are joined by Blackburn, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Portsmouth for the draw on Saturday. The quarter-final games will be played at the end of November.
